My friend and I recently went shopping together and both found gorgeous dresses. We were talking about how it's a shame we have no where to wear them to! That got me wondering if there are any good holiday (like Christmas or New Years) events in Rhode Island anyone knows of where people can dress up nice! We wanna have some fun! Thanks!
LOL honestly we were thinking of doing that too. We do have another friend in Boston.
Another option is dress and head to Atwells on a mild Friday night. Plan on strolling/bat hopping.
Ocean House has a NYE party, if you’re looking to spend a decent amount of money.
This the most American thing I've read in a while. Why do you need a special occasion or reason to get dressed up? People in Milan get dressed up nice to go for a coffee or grocery shopping 🤷♂️
My ex and I would buy expensive suits/dresses, hide the tag and go out for an expensive Newport dinner/stroll.
The next day we would return the clothes lol
The US does not have a homogenous culture; lack of same is pretty much what defines us as a nation.
That said, three years into a pandemic, a lot of (US) young adults are living in sweats or flannel pajama bottoms 😆

Blithewold in Bristol used to host Christmas parties of some type -- never attended one, but had the sense you would dress as for a Christmas party in a stately mansion. Blithewold is always worth a tour anyway if you haven't yet been. Call or google.
Finally someone else noticed the pajamas/sweatpants epidemic!
When I went to high school sweatpants were taboo.
I went to the movies a few weeks ago on a day off. a 2pm screening I counted 10 people wearing Pajamas.

Saw a girl yesterday on a city street unloading a little UHaul moving van while rocking a pair of plaid flannel pj bottoms and I was like, "you go, Sis"
NYC is only 4 hours away.
