Verizon is objectively the best option in the state. If it's an issue with just cost, you can do better. If it's an issue of wifi coverage from a single router in a full home? That isn't really a FIOS issue. It can be improved though.

If it's an issue of outages/speed degradation on a wired connection/etc, it's almost certainly going to be worse with Cox.

I've used Cox for the past 6 years or so with only a few issues here and there. It can get frustrating but I've never not been able to get them worked out. Price is fine and if you're willing to call every year you can usually keep it down.

I’ve had Cox for about a year and a half of extremely heavy use and I have no complaints. I generate enormous files (50-100gb) for work, and we have multiple streaming tvs in the house. No issues with speed or reliability.

If you have access to fios then go with that. I worked for Cox for almost 10 years and I have fios.

>Looks like Verizon & Cox are the only two major ISPs that have gigabit speeds around here which blows.

And 1000 Mbps / 1000 Mbps upload is definitely not the same as 1000 Mbps download / 35 Mbps upload even if consistency and reliability were the same.

A lot of home users who just do browsing/streaming might not notice a difference. But it will show with online gaming, WFH, etc.

Edit: they all suck though. The cable company cliche will never die. Ideally, we can build out municipal low cost options and increase free wifi areas to make it better. Leave the big guys for the people who need better, but have an accessible/affordable solution for the basic shit.
