Thank you for keeping this beautiful tradition alive! The "I know a guy" Soupy is the best Soupy!

What the Italians in Westerly wonā€™t share, is the exact recipe for their soupy. They will pass it down to family only. You almost need to be a made man to learn the way of the soupy. I can respect that. Glad to see the tradition still in practice. Good soupy is easy to buy, westerly packing, great soupy is given to you by someone you know, who knows a guy.

Have lived in Westerly almost 50 years and have been mainly vegetarian for most of that time, but when I see soupy on a party platter or on a breakfast menu (and several local restaurants offer it), I canā€™t resist.

I'm in the third group - people who know enough of the first kind of people that we get gifted enough to fill all our soupy needs. I've got 3/4 of a stick left now and I'm guaranteed to be offered another before I run out.

I take it bikepacking and backpacking it travels nicely at high temps. One of my favorite trail meals is fresh kale, potatoes from a scalloped potatoes side meal keep only the dehydrated potatoes soupy and boom hearty trail meal.

This is the towards the end of soupy making season, but there are still a couple more weeks. We usually start in late December and roll through mid February. This year we might have to shut it down early due to the damp winter.

I want to like Westerly Packing but both times I've been there I wasn't super impressed. What do you usually get? I've had things like their bacon and NY Strips, but that's it. Both were just okay, maybe I'm just getting the wrong stuff.

This reminds me of a cellar I was in, rural Italy, cured meats hanging everywhere, dank smelling, but the most buttery meat Iā€™ve ever eaten, with some estate grown wine.
