Nicholas was sainted because he stole money from the Roman Church/State and threw it in the windows of the poor families with daughters. So they could pay the dowry and buy a husband, instead of being forced into sex work.
So pre-Sainthood was the first visits by the reverse home invader.

All of this is true, but he was not beatified until 1446, so before that he was not Saint Nick!
