Honestly, I think Air New Zealand might just be my favorite airline that I’ve ever flown (and I was a Delta Medallion-level - usually Gold - flyer for like 15 years straight.) Every single ANZ flight I‘ve been on it seemed like an attendant went above and beyond for me.

For example, I boarded and sat in my seat. Less than a minute into the flight, I noticed my shoe sticking to the floor (carpet.) I’d removed my shoe to look at it and realized someone had dropped gum on the floor.

While I was looking at the bottom of my shoe (literally less than 5 seconds) a flight attendant passed by and asked me if everything was ok.

I explained it wasn’t a huge deal - just gum.

She immediately took (after asking) my shoe and someone else guided me to a different seat.

A few minutes after that, they returned my shoe to me completely cleaned of all the gum.

And I never felt like a burden. Whether it was faked in any way or not, they all just seemed… sincerely happy to help.

Simple stuff really, but I’ve never experienced anything like it on any other airline.

Recently flew to NYC and it was my daughter's first flight, she's 9, she mentioned it to the cabin crew who was chatting to her. As we landed they handed her a certificate covered in stickers and signed by the cabin crew celebrating her first flight. She also got to hand out the lollies just before landing. It was so lovely. They also message during the night to see if you want hot panini's and chocolate cookies.

They did this for my partner who was an adult his first time flying. It was really nice of them!

That's lovely, I think it's great when adults get to celebrate 'firsts' and not be looked over cos we're grown up. Thanks for sharing.

A few years ago, I was visiting Charlotte for the first time, with my gf (she grew up nearby). Looking for something to do, I checked to see if the Hornets were playing. Sure enough, game time in one hour, two tram stops away. Let's go! My first NBA game.

After the game, we're making our way to the exit, when I see a group of small kids posing for a picture. The photographer had official Hornets gear on. The kids are holding a banner that says "Our First NBA Game!" So I walk up to the photographer and say "hey, it's my first NBA game too!" And the photographer says "well get in the picture!"

So on the Hornets IG feed, there is a picture of a bunch of 7 year olds and one 40-something slacker looking dude, with big smiles on their faces, at their first NBA game...

Similar story here. Our plane hit some turbulence on descent which so startled me that I accidentally inhaled when I meant to blow to clear my ears. Suddenly I couldn’t breathe and before I knew what happened I woke up awkwardly slumped into the aisle with my head buzzing and the sounds slowly coming into focus like when you surface after being underwater and the last thing I remembered felt like a dream. The flight attendant told me the person in the seat behind me heard the noises I was making and instinctively reached around and gave me the Heimlich maneuver at which point the gum I’d been chewing shot out of my throat like a cannonball across the cabin. Everyone was so focused on helping me that they lost track of the projectile but they assured me it was not a problem and the cleaning crew would find it when they came through. Apparently not, since that’s what you found stuck to your shoe. Sorry about that. They get an A+ for crisis response though.

I like positive stereotypes. The Maori people seem dope as fuck in a way I don't see in other cultures. Casketeers on Netflix is a masterpiece, it's a wholesome, emotional reality show of a dude and his family who run a funeral parlor there. So funny, so beautiful
