Im hoping Im alive to see the day where fossil fuels are phased out and renewables are the common thing to use for energy.

You already know the bottle neck is not technology. It is big oil, of course. They already have billions invested in oil and they're not willing to give it up until they've squeezed out the last nickel from it. So they will continue to quietly quash every serious effort to change over to cleaner, cheaper alt energies.
