Anyway, this is awesome news. Huge congrats to how much India has done in the last 10 years to reduce extreme poverty.

Are they using the time tested IMF method of reducing poverty? By that I mean changing the definition of poverty so it fits less people without material change

This isn't true though, poverty has decreased a lot especially in Asia.

China used international trade to turn a billion-person impoverished country into the 2nd largest economy in the world. This was a major advancement for hundreds of millions of the world's poorest.
