Bro I'm literally arguing in r/Spokane w someone and they're claiming the North American model of wildlife conservation is not science based and that just because Washington has ~20,000 black bears, is not enough evidence to justify a hunt.

It’s insane. It’s also an argument you’ll never win. If WDFW eliminated bear hunting completely, it wouldn’t “save” any bears. Instead, we’d have more starving and diseased bears moving into suburban areas looking for food and shelter. WDFW would still have to manage bears, which would involve culling bears to some degree.

I get it, but again the refusal to acknowledge the science and instead just base it off of their feelings is just downright obtuse.
