Electrification is not just for climate and pollution concerns. It takes less time for electrically powered trains to get up to speed and to slow down compared to diesel trains. Which means you can theoretically decrease the headways between trains, increasing service. We'll see if the MBTA takes advantage of this or not.

From the same article: “By December 31, 2029, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority shall have the ability to operate service on the Worcester Line through Framingham Station every 15 minutes in each direction,” noted the legislation.
Would be pretty amazing if that actually happened.
