She might have moved laterally across the vehicle in the event of an accident. As small as she is a blow less injurious to us could have inflicted damage to her

"I'm absolutely taking this kitten home. Can you keep her a bit longer while I get her a carrier?"

Problem solved. Carriers aren't specialized equipment. You can find them nearly anywhere.

For your kitten's sake, make better decisions.
