Cats prefer running water, in nature i means it’s cleaner. You could get a water fountain cat machine to get them to hydrate more. I noticed a difference in how soft my cats coat was when I got my water fountain for him.

Very true. That's why I tried the fountain with filter. I still have the setup and maintain it just in case I'm not home to give her water from the sink.

Very common! Cats like running water in nature as instinct tells them it is more likely to be filtered and thus clean and free of microbes.
