I'm so tired of yuppification being touted as progress. You want food courts, go to the burbs.

But really because of the extant remote work transformation accelerated by COVID, this is what is happening to center cities now. They are increasingly playgrounds for the disposable income class. Not working organic cities but socially engineered and curated "experience spaces".

Out with the fried chicken and sweet tea, in with the Pan-Asian/fusion chicken breasts and kombucha tea. Unfortunate but inexorable.

But I agree with your overall point about not organic cities and now curated spaces. Let’s just be happy is much less gentrified than most places.
