Good, solid writing, just laid on a bit thick. Wouldn't have guessed McCarthy from that sample. Time to read some Denis Johnson if you haven't, though I suspect you have. There's some hints of Resuscitation of a Hanged Man, etc. in there.

I just try to write in my vernacular, this one was kind of a parody of itself: a pontification. My other stories are more serious, I’d be glad to share one or two if you’re open to reading them
