I’ve only finished book 1 of the trilogy, please no spoilers for the other two :) I ordered them immediately after finishing the first

Holy shit. I think this might be my favorite book of all time.

As I’m reading a lot of horror books, I’m trying to do shadow work at the same time - that is, I’m trying to reveal myself to myself if that makes sense. I found such a sense of validation through the biologist’s narration. Her accounts of self-inflicted isolation and the desire to be completely out of control/ part of something larger.

Just wanted to discuss, if you’ve read the book, what was your favorite thing about it?

Also, what other books would you recommend by Jeff VanderMeer? I have ‘Borne’ on my radar, I think I’m going to read that after I finish the Southern Reach trilogy. (I can take this out if this is not allowed!)
