South End brownstones -- good density, some good decs, nice vibe
Especially Waltham St. and Union Park. Waltham St is closed to cars that night and the neighbors out do each other with full sized candy bars for the kids and I’ve seen them giving nips to the parents. And Union Park is one street over.
I live in Prospect Hill, Somerville, and we get a LOT of trick-or-treaters and our neighbors all go hard on decorations. Good scene. Several streets have gotten block party permits to close their streets to cars as well.
There's also a street party on Sunday evening: https://somervilleartscouncil.org/somerstreets/monster
South slope of Beacon Hill (sorry, the North slope people are party poopers) has a huge turnout. Close the streets and it still hard to get around, at least on Chestnut St, there are so many people. Home owners go all out for Halloween.
This search gives you and idea of how crowded. https://twitter.com/search?q=boston%20beacon%20hill%20halloween&src=typed_query
Yikes, I didn't realize the XV Beacon hotel advertised it to attract out of town visitors.

The residential areas of Boston are busy. The less residential or concentrated residential areas that are busier are Beacon Hill and Charlestown by the monument.
I live in Dorchester and the Melville Park, Savin Hill, Lower Mills, and Ashmont (Hill and Adams) areas all great.
Where do you live? Preferably somewhere you can walk to. There’s more children killed by vehicles on Halloween than any other day.
