What do you mean? You're given the plates and registration when you hand them the completed paperwork.

My wife is concerned that because she's registering a previously out of state vehicle it would be different for her. I was under the impression this is how it works, you get both right there at the RMV. Thank you for the info!

They'll have to process and mail you a new title, but that's standard on any car if you buy it from in state as well. But yes, if you have all the paperwork from your insurance company, they hand you plates and print a registration when you go there.

If it’s a vanity plate, you’ll be issued a temporary tag until they arrive.

Or if they run out of the plates for the day... It took them two weeks to mail me mine but I had temp tags during those two weeks.

They hand them to you when you register it.

They give you the plates and registration right then and there. The new title will come in the mail in about three weeks.

you get your plate on the spot unless it's a vanity plate.
