Yeah, I encourage anyone in this thread to read up on postpartum psychosis before passing judgement on the mother. She was more than likely not in her right mind at all. Such severe cases are relatively rare but absolutely devastating when they happen.

The documentary “Not Carol” opened my eyes to this. It’s extremely dark and definitely not for everyone. But her husband sticking by her and insisting she would never commit such a horrible act if she wasn’t literally insane really stuck with me. Carol never fully recovered but her pain is palpable. Difficult watch but extremely enlightening .

I watched it, that was heart wrenching. The terrible loss of the kids, a woman who was clearly out of her mind and obviously remorseful, which is what sticks with you. So much lip service is paid to mental health, so little is actually put in to treating it. Tragedies like these can be if at least not prevented then mitigated.

I warned you it was a tough watch 😭

What gets me is in this Duxbury case it seems like the mom had sought help but I heard she may have been on a waiting list for inpatient care. And dad just went out to get takeout. Sooo horrible. I feel bad for the entire family.

The medical community is failing or failing to prioritize appropriately. I have been dealing with same for my son at Boston Children’s. (My 7 year old stopped eating). It’s ridiculous, but they let non medical people make the important decisions. My heart breaks for everyone, this could have been avoided and unfortunately an event like this won’t shine a light on how the system failed her and ultimately her family. All the talk about mental health being so important is just lip service unfortunately.

I pass the house twice daily as it’s near my sons school, my heart breaks over and over for all of them.

I’m a bit confused. Let’s say she actually killed the poor kids and she tried to get help but didn’t will she get charged?

Probably but she might be able to plead insanity. Idk, I’m not a lawyer.

The DA has already said they plan to charge her with murder ASAP.
