What's the point of having ordinances banning Saturday/Sunday construction in the city if it's so easy to get an after-hours permit? I think we all deserve a little sleep.

After hours permits are not handed out lightly. Also for an emergency utility need such as loss of electric power or gas leak things are different. They can skip the permit process.
The solution is in missing details.

It’s for the construction of new “income restricted” housing in Fenway. I also had a downstairs neighbor last year in Back Bay that got an after hours permit for their renovation even though the delay for it was because their contractor never showed up. Seems pretty easy to get one.
