Kind of surprised Taiwan didn't make the cut. I thought they were about the same level as Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea.

Because Taiwan wasn't included as it's not a UN member, otherwise it would have made.

Taiwan is not a UN member and even if they were they would fare lower than JP, SK, SG, and HK. They are more Thailand's level.

Taiwan's HDI is 0.916 which would be above France, but under Japan and South Korea.

Taiwan is tied with Austria.

According to whom? Because it's definitely not the UN, which complies and produces HDI figures. Ain't seeing no Taiwan here.

That doesn't make you a more reliable source... the Taiwan government provides you with their data and the formula is there for you to check and scrutinized.
