Over recent months, tech companies have been laying workers off by the thousands. It is estimated that in 2022 alone, over 120,000 people have been dismissed from their job at some of the biggest players in tech – Meta, Amazon, Netflix, and soon Google – and smaller firms and starts ups as well. Announcements of cuts keep coming.
Taking advantage of the data compiled at https://layoffs.fyi/ I designed this public dashboard so that the information can be consumed in a better way.

The technologies are:

  • Google Sheets
  • Looker studio (aka google data studio)

They hired a lot more than they laid off, so just doing layoffs is misleading. If the goal is to have people understand tech employment dynamics, this is not an effective visualization.

100% agreed with this. The only people panicking are the ones who aren't in the tech industry. Even laid off workers will find another gig, it probably just won't be for a FAANG company.

Also, there is still an error in the underlying data (aside from it just being misleading).
