As a swede I am very pleased! Generally when I see Swedish meat balls on this sub it is in tomatosause and stuff. This is the real deal!! Köttbullar i brunsås med potatismos!
Swap out the cranberrie sauce to lingonberries and you're home!
Yeah, but cranberries is probably the best easily available alternative. Lingonberries can be hard to find outside Sweden, Finland and Norway
In the US, Whole Foods and IKEA always have them!
Like many redditors, The nearest Whole foods and and IKEA are several hours drive from where I live. (Don't feel too sorry for me, thank FSM there's a Wegmans on the other side of town, and they have lingonberry jam. In fact ther's some in my fridge right now.)
I got spoiled by the 99th Wegmans they opened up in Virginia Beach. Then we moved an hour north to Williamsburg. I love that we have a Publix up here… but I'd definitely trade access to IKEA and Whole Foods to have a Wegmans closer - in a heartbeat. Their prepared foods are way outside my budget, but they have SO much awesome stuff, and produce and cheeses I can't get anywhere else, along with some FANTASTIC house brand frozen foods… lots of amazing stuff that's hard to find anywhere else :)
I'd trade whole foods for Wegmans any day... None on the west coast /sobs
The nearest IKEA to me is like 50+ miles and I've never even seen a whole foods before.
I guess I’m blessed to have a Whole Foods and Ikea within 15 minutes from my home. And a Wegmans with 10 minutes of my job. 😅
Yup, and vice versa as a Swedish-American family in Sweden, we use lingonberries for Thanksgiving.
All IKEAs have it.
Also, Marshall’s, & TJMax always have Lingonberry jam in the little food isle.
I made Swedish meatballs this week with the lingonberry spread from Ikea. They are almost identical in flavor to cranberries, so I don't think you're missing anything subbing a cranberry sauce
IKEA has entered the chat
and cranberries are tasty so it's ok
They sell lingonberries at every ikea...and on amazon....
And the broccoli thingy for pickled (pressed?) cucumber. 2/4.
Yes
Agree
I’d love to see some pressed cucumbers, too.
I had to look this up. The acidity would be a great addition! Going to make these next time I make Swedish meatballs.
Kutballen in bruine saus met aardappelen.

Jag är inte svensk men det här ser jättebra ut.
And I’ve managed to learn a lot of Swedish through Duolingo and music.
