So Chinese maker so it likely spies on you. I wonder if it crashes when you drink Pepsi?

I had a Coca-Cola phone around 99-2000 ish.

It was an Ericsson (a few years prior to them becoming Sony-Ericsson) with a Coca-Cola fascia and splash-screen.

You got it by collecting tickets on the side of bottles, and paying a little extra.

I drank a LOT of Coke back then.

Let me guess, one of the "canned" apps included is the Caffeine streaming service.

They should pay us to advertise on our phones, like putting stickers on your car for local businesses.

I would never get one but as an idea I kind of love this! It reminds me of all the wacky marketing stunts companies pulled in the 2000’s. 10 year old me would’ve been all over a Coke themed phone back in 2007.

It also brings back memories of the pre-smartphone era where every phone had some kind of gimmick to make it more marketable.

Would it not be possible to accomplish most of this using themes for most Android devices? Plus maybe a custom Coke case?

Cokes version of Android is probably as bloated as I get, when I chug a 2L bottle of Coke.

The split on the back looks bad. Like you bought a custom case or decal online, and the printer fucked up the design.

It should come with a ringtone that sounds like a can cracking open or a bottle being poured into a glass with carbonation fizzing

KilgoretheTrout55 t1_j95xhg2 wrote

With the right launcher you could surely have some kind of Coca-Cola theme with appropriate ringtones and so on. Obviously this is more about promotional material the collector's item more so than just an aesthetic preference for most people

The companies that physically make the chips (in china) also make the software for the chips. They go hand in hand and you can’t do one without the other. Exactly naming which chip on the iPhones i don’t know, that’s all proprietary informations.

It all is heavily monitored by Apple, but it’s not beyond the realm of the possibility spyware gets hidden into the chips. There are also independent researchers that look out for things like that (it’s how US malware on Iranian computers was made public), and probably the US government as well but any such efforts are classified.

It was likely the A1018s, I got mine for £30, and 60 tokens from Coke bottle labels, or packaging from cans. I asked everyone at school for labels, and had my 60 tokens in 3 days.

It was my first phone, and was a great device, though texting was a little annoying due to limied screen.

Had a unique ringtone only on that version of the phone, and the clip on frnt was chromed with coca cola written across it.

I wish I still had that old relic.

Can you show me where China makes the software for the Apple SoC? Nothing I’ve read supports that and it’d be in Apples best interest by far to ensure that it’s the exact code intended.

Simply having a chip made in China doesn’t mean it’s written by the Chinese or they have final say (though Apple is probably one of VERY few businesses that can say that).

I’m 100% pro Chinese bugs in everything, TikTok is spyware, Huwai is spyware, but the basis of what you’re implying is wrong - that it’s Chinese written - so your implications are suspect as well

Just looked at the instruction set source and yeah, not Chinese.

Also, TSMC is Taiwan so while final production may occur in China, what you’re saying about the chip is bollocks

Also, saying it’s not beyond their capacity while simultaneously claiming it’s true (ignoring the other fallacies) doesn’t work out man

That's the one. I collected my own tokens, but still had enough in about two weeks. I think it was 3 tokens for a 2L bottle. (I hadn't drunk them all, but we bought in bulk because I did drink an awful lot).

It was my 4th mobile, and a major step down in terms of screen size,

But I quickly moved to the Motorola V66, then the Ericsson T68m, then the Samsung T108 japanese import.

Phones in those days were just better, so fucking interesting every one of them with their little quirks.

The T108 had a built in voicemail, and voice ringtones, though they W were in Japanese. 'Whey Yodiohala' (is what it sounded like).

Yep, for sure. Phones are all very samey and boring these days. I remember back then everyones phone was so different, and they all had different features, and different games, etc. The power consumption was lower so lasted days, and if you wanted then carrying extra batteries was possible too!

I wish that it was possible to run some of thsoe old phones, but it's hard to get well prices 2G SIM cards, and they likely won't work at all much longer.
