I bought a brand new G-Pro Superlight from Logitech a few months ago and it still uses micro-USB for some unfathomable reason.
CommonSenseIsNeeded t1_jdjo3jc wrote
Wow. I didn’t know anything still uses micro.

Now that gives me another reason not to upgrade to a $200 mouse, I’ll just keep using my wired model O until it’s dead lol.

I had higher priorities for mouse features than what fucking charging port it uses. USB-C is firmly in the "nice to have" category.

I'm just imagining charging a car via USB-C.
Assuming 240W per cable, I'd need 30 to match a wall charger.
Having replaced my power sockets in the house, I've now got 16 cables into my kettle.
Loving USB-C!

I recently bought a wireless Magsafe charger for my AirPods and iPhone and I am never going back to cables. Ever.
the_boy_who_lied t1_jeayrw0 wrote
Honestly same. Magnetic charging in general needs to be improved (and it is happening) so that we don't have to worry about port compliance anymore.
wildadragon t1_jdmy90s wrote
But the magsafe charger itself needs a cable so still cables
mok000 t1_jdnibc3 wrote
Yeah but no cables in and out of the phone. The magsafe charger just sits on my shelf.

Again, literally all Android manufacturers do the same thing to prevent $2 Amazon USB-C cables from killing devices. Certified cables will likely be $10, just like fast charge compatible USB-C cables for Samsung devices.
Steam deck does the same thing, so do laptops that support USB-C charging.
auto_grammatizator t1_jdmzbdr wrote
Except that all "certified" cables are certified not by the manufacturer but by the USB IF. They're just USB Power Delivery cables and they're interoperable across all manufacturers that implement this spec.
The only major standout I've seen in Android land has been OnePlus phones and bricks. Maybe more Chinese manufacturers have their own spec too.

EU legislation demands support for charging with standard USB and USB PD anyway.

This should be covered under the warranty. Use the apple support app and get some help! Or walk into the Apple Store and make an appointment.
