You plug the two monitors into your graphics card. Done.

I feel like if I did that, both screens would show the same thing and I wouldn't know how to set it up to show what I want on each.

when you right click and choose display settings, you can choose what you want them to do... duplicate screen, extend screen, etc.

It's really easy as long as you have two inputs on your computer or a docking station with multiple inputs. All you have to do is plug them up and change your desktop display settings. I could describe it, but you'd be better off Googling it so you can see images. I've got my laptop screen and two other monitors at work.
