If your coming from Skullcandy headphones better exchange the 990 and get the dt770 (80 ohm). I think the sound signature is more similar and they will definitely run from your laptop and phone.

Any plans for a strap for the Fostex line (Th610, 900, emu teak, etc)?

My Shure SE215s are technically still alive, but I’ve replaced the cable too many times to count and the housings are badly chipped and cracked. Daily drivers for ~3 years in college and hardly used since.

I'd look into hybrid tips such as Symbio W. The inner foam expands to the ear canal and it provides a super seal and isolation without the con of the disposable and itchy nature of foams.

The VSonic GR07 Classic. I don't use it much now and it's relegated to it's case most of the time but when I feel nostalgic I pull it out

I've had my Sundaras for around the same amount of time and they look brand new. What the fuck are you doing to them?

I've been into this hobby for 2 and a half years so don't really have much lineage, but my then Starfield (that has been sold to a friend) is still in great condition. I still daily-drive my Blessing 2 for close to 2 years right now. I also still have some cheap $2 earbuds from a local store and it still sounds like what it used to 8-9 years ago (Read: Bad).

I've been quite blessed with QC though, only have had minor issues (paint chipping). Things that I broke (cosmetically like my Blessing 2) is fully on me, and even then, with some tape and glue, it still works wonders.

People talk about the batteries going bad but I've had my original airpods for I can't remember how many years and they're still going strong, although I only really use them for making calls at work now. I've had wired IEMs break usually after 6-12 months.

> As well as that, a driver is tuned to sound a specific way
You can change tuning pretty easily, though some drivers distort more than others when you boost certain frequencies. Some though, are basically a blank canvas to tune however you want.
The Raal CA1A was actually designed to have 'as capable drivers as possible,' with the intention that you'll EQ them to sound generally how you want.

Bear with me I'm 60 IQ.
These would just be an external powersource I'd have to route it through? Are there portable amps that don't need an outlet?
Has anyone tried the 80 ohm version? How does it compare? Is it worth getting the amp for the difference?

I have a clear from focal and I think it's safe to say that they're the best headphones I own. My other two favorites are my beyerdynamic t1 3rd and my sennheiser hd660s, so that's what I have to compare my clear to. The hd660s tend to prefer music with more emphasis on vocals while the t1 3rd do better with bass and synth heavy stuff. The clear is the perfect bridge between the two and is able to handle the full scope of my music without issue. While I may prefer my t1, I use the clear more often. They really are the jack of all trades and master of none.

I’m 20. Most of my friends hearing is just as good as mine and they don’t have tinnitus. I do hate trying to go to sleep sometimes as the ringing is overpowering in a silent room.

Looking forward to it! My headband is getting a little old, so it'd be really awesome to have something cute and durable to replace it with.

Yes, you definitely can. Just remember that you'll need to hook up headphones that are similar, otherwise you'll end up with different volume.

With 250 ohm resistance, you will need a BIG amp.

Reply to comment by ultima-ratio-populi in Anybody have any information on blessing 2 water rating? Just took them into a hot tub with me with a bt cable but never submerged the iem, was worried about dropping them in by OpenRecommendation44
exposing the iem to heat will likely allow the water to evaporate over time. the danger comes from running an electric current whilst there is still water.
