IPhone 13 or IPhone 15?

I'm a teenage guy, obviously don't have the most insane financial situation, and I wanted to switch from my Samsung Galaxy A52 (the vibration motor also broke, LOL). So the situation here is:

1- I'm skipping the 14 completely, as I am well aware of the lack of changes to justify a generational jump 2- I adore the green IPhone 13 (silly, I know) 3- Not planning on getting any Pro/Pro Max variants 4- Type C probably won't be standardized until a few years after the 15 comes out, as basically all IPhone users have a lightning cable

Help me make a choice! I KNOW my conditions seem unclear so please feel free to comment or recommend, thank you:)

Type C will be universal when it debuts, to comply with the EU mandate. There is some rumor that the Pro models will support faster charging and transfer speeds but they’ll all be USBC.

So that is still most likely with the 15 series in Fall 2023. The mandate requires newly manufactured devices sold in 2024 to use USBC, so there’s a non-zero but highly unlikely chance they start with the SE4 in Spring 2024.

I’m not sure why you’re skipping the 14? Since your coming from an Android it makes sense to get the newest device. Unless you mean you’re holding out for the 15 or usbc specifically.

The point i was bringing up with USB-C was that, like lightning, itll take time to become the standard among apple users as most casual users don't upgrade every generation, so lightning will still be more popular among apple users

and i'm skipping the 14 due to the fact that i can only get the baseline model as the pro models are almost twice the price here for some reason, and given that the iphone 13 and 14 are nearly identical so i don't see why not

Why would you be concerned with which cable other people are using?

Camera is improved on the 14, I think? But I do better see your point about skipping the 14. Plus Dynamic Island should be universal for the 15

Your hypothetical iPhone 15 USBC come with its own usbc cable for charging. The 14 comes with usbc to lightning so the outlet end is still usbc. As long as you have a usbc power adapter, you’re good.

Unless you are thinking you’ll be borrowing other people’s cables or lending your own fairly often?

It’s all good. Most people were having the same brain fart during the switch from 30-pin to lightning. Lol

Either the 14 if your current device is on its last legs or hold out for usbc on the 15 which is virtually guaranteed. Either is a good choice.

iPhone 13, don’t listen to him. the 14 is such an embarrassment of a phone. Save the extra $100 especially since you’re a teenager. the 13 has a great camera, battery & will receive support for many years.

You’re not getting anything worthwhile for the extra $100. You should instead put that $100 towards some airpods if you don’t have any headphones already or put it somewhere useful
