My iPhone 7 is having this weird issue where the microphone isn’t working and the software knows it’s not working like when you record a video the button to turn the sound on in the photos app is Grayed out. I’m pretty sure it’s not software because when you are connected to something with a microphone through Bluetooth you can use that microphone but there is no option to switch back to the internal microphone. Is this a simple open the phone up and put in a new microphone or is there something wrong with the logic board? Thanks!!

Hi!

From what I understand, this was a pretty common problem with the iPhone 7.

If you're sure it's not the software component, I recommend taking the phone to the nearest service center for diagnostics (you'll most likely have to replace the Audio Chip).

If you have time and patience, you can try doing a hard reset, but I don't think this will help.

I agree, the situation is not pleasant, but there is no reason to worry.

I'm sure any good service center will solve this problem in a short time (if the appropriate accessories are available), relatively inexpensive.

Good luck!

Will the Apple store fix a phone this old?

I think yes, they must still have parts for it, albeit in obviously small quantities.

Plus, let's not forget the later models represented by the iPhone 8, SE 2 and 3, where many components are interchangeable with later devices (or vice versa).
