The concept for the 14 Plus is nice: an iPhone for those want one with a larger screen, but don’t want / don’t have finances to buy a PM. Apple released the 14s in two sets. The Plus was released with the second set. If it is still having disappointing sales, I see 2 possible reasons: the timing of its release (the second set) and/or a too-small niche market. If Apple should come out with a 15 Plus, it should come out with the first set of 15s to see if timing of the 14 Plus’s release was a factor. Otherwise, why bother?

Indeed. The 14 Plus delay defintely hurt it. People saw the other models come out and then the Plus seemed like a total afterthought.

Yup, timing ruined it for them. If anything, Apple should always release the base models before the pro models if they having trouble producing enough. Because people like me, who are set on getting the pro model or for others the pro max, the delay wouldn’t have been as much of a factor in the buying process.
