It suddenly stopped working, I believe it may not be hardware issue. My phone suddenly restarted and since then none of the microphones apps are functioning.

WhatsApp unable to place a call Voice memo record button is unresponsive (nothing happens when I click) Am able to receive phone calls but can’t hear or speak

But speaker works as expected, can play songs on YouTube.

What could have gone wrong.

Well, it sure sounds like a hardware fault. If the mic doesn’t work for anything, then the mic is dead.

Have any AirPods, Bluetooth headphones or wired lightning headphones to test with?

Bluetooth only. You no longer have any control over internal audio routing.

iPhone 7 loop disease (on restart it would take extra long to boot up because it's looping.). The audio often chip dies with this issue. Happened to mine a few years ago. Now I use mine as a webcam.

Oh yeah same thing , it got restarted couple of times and after that it no longer works
