Fairly new to JC, other than Liberty or the waterfront, are there rail trails or other 'out of traffic' trails around JC for biking?

duh, my bad. for biking, just road or a bit of gravel is fine.
I do not recall the names but there is a rail trail north of Harriman/Tallman state parks in NY and there is a trail that I believe is intended for mountain bikes across 9W from State Line Lookout by the Alpine scout camp.
Here's a good map of the NJ Rail Trails
There aren't too many within an hour or so drive from here
Technically, the Bergen Arches are a rail trail.
The Summit High Line in Summit is in its early stages. A very tiny portion is built and the rest is being constructed gradually. The NYS&W Rail Trail between Wayne and Pequannock is under construction and making good progress. In New York, parts of the old Putnam and New York Railroad have been converted into a rail trail.
Palisades Interstate Park is about a 30-45 minute drive (depending on traffic) north of JC along the Hudson. It's paved road riding, but has very little traffic -- a long mid section is closed to autos.
Columbia Trail is great but bit of a drive to get to. Henry Hudson Trail is also nice.
I liked to ride up to Brewster and take the train back down; you can also stop at any other train station along the way.

There's one that the state just bought from CSX that will go from Montclair to JC. I think the idea is that it will eventually be used for commuting.
Are they open?
They aren’t exactly closed😅
my favorite is the Sussex loop.
about 14 miles round trip on parts of the Sussex Branch, Paulinskill, and Great Valley rail trails

They're clopened, feel me?

Trails for.... biking? hiking? skateboarding?
There are some unpaved gravel trails behind Lincoln Park.
