Finally think I may have found a good fit here, but if anyone has insight into what it’s like actually living here I’d love to hear it!

I’m a big walker, so I don’t mind. My personal safety is most important since I will be coming home quite late sometimes. Thoughts on safety and the area?
paulus hook is considered one of the safest parts of jc
that said when people ask about safety they often do not mean "fewest reported crimes" so you should just look for yourself at night
Thank you! I live in LA currently, so I’m not new to big cities, I’ve just never been to the east coast.
Equity Residential has a very bad reputation. Plan to move out after your lease is up because they will raise your rent a ton.
I will only be living here for a year before moving back to LA. I just have to train a team in NY before bringing them back in 2024.
If you're only going to be around for a year, it's also worth hunting around for promo offers at different places, e.g. months free. Places might give you a good deal hoping to kill you on renewal when they know most people are reluctant to move.
Ah! Great idea! I also heard that January is a cheaper month to move?
Winter is supposed to be a better time. Fall is considered the busy season in general.
I live here. I love my apartment and the location but the management company is horrible. They’re wildly incompetent and the rents went up a lot (I know, I know, everywhere did). Search the Google reviews of this building and their sister buildings. Overall, if you have no major issues, it’s fine. I’ve had them let a leak spread through my floors for 11 days and offer me a whole 150 dollars for the “inconvenience.” There’s something to be sad about all city management companies, but equity is the worst I’ve ever dealt with.

As already pointed out by others, the property management company has an atrocious reputation. We are in the process of moving and we specifically refused to even consider an Equity building.
Most of what I hear are about drastic rent increases, but I will only be living in New Jersey for one year before moving back West.
Then you haven’t read or researched enough.
Bad. My unit has had a broken appliance for 4 weeks now.

We lived there and liked it a lot. Just a bit of a walk to the PATH, but otherwise great.
