As a fellow cake donut lover...not Jersey City unfortunately.

#1 Judicke's in Bayonne

Trader Joe's are seasonal flavored but when offered they're usually well above average

Pretty sure Grind Coffee has a selection of them! They also have gluten free and vegan donut options too.

Rabble & Lion has Donut Plant on the weekends. Go. They are really good. Then you'll be hooked and you'll start traveling into the city for more.

Absolutely Judicke’s in Bayonne. Which is not JC, but is worth it for cake donuts. We have a serious donut hole here in JC.

I know TJ-otakus generally can find out who does their private label stuff, have you thought about that? TJs has great chocolate babka sometimes & I found out it comes out of a place in Brooklyn so I can get it from the source if it's out of season at TJs

It’s worth checking Scram Bakery on Erie Street on the weekends, it’s a rotating menu and selection but there is usually a cake donut and it is almost always amazing.

Into the Void at Brunswick and 2nd also tends to make small batch sweets on the weekends as well though they’re not available until later in the morning. Their Halloween donuts were heavenly.
