Hi folks, looking to get the backyard spruced up. Looking for recommendations for contractors to build fencing, custom seating, install a patio, turf, and other landscaping. Got a quote from Urban Garden Design that seemed reasonable, but they are fully booked until the end of 2023 (good for them!). Thanks in advance.

I talked these guys 2 years ago about doing a design for my brother and they were very nice and worked with native plants as well as the building fences/hardscaping. I am not sure if they would work in Jersey City but worth a call in the winter to find out.

Can I ask what your quote was (or ballpark)? I’m going to be looking for something similar in 2023 and trying to figure out how much it’s going to hurt.

I’ve heard good things about a small green space though!

It was $26k to turn what is currently a dirt pit with a chain fence into something akin to this: https://asmallgreenspace.com/2021-projects-1

Also note, they said people often use them just for the design portion (which was quoted as $1200) and then take the designs to cheaper contractors. I think the only reason they told us that was because they are basically having to turn business away because they are still catching up from all the pandemic bookings.

We used these guys for a full garden reno. They weren’t the most reliable (there were delays and we had to chase them down on a couple of things). But in the end the outcome was good. it took a few months for them to get started after we landed on a design because things like turf and stone were on backorder.
