We are a couple (M32 and F27) and child-free.
She has been offered a 3 year, $60,000/year post-doc offer at Harvard when she finished her doctorate at Baylor University this summer.
I've been tending bar for 12 years in Texas and have been with my current employer for close to 7 years due to how well they have treated me both as an employee and financially.
We are excited to move to Mass for 3 years for the opportunity she has been given at such a prestigious campus and the option to move back to Texas after the 3 years is up.
I'd be lying if I said the idea of us picking up and moving to a new place we aren't familiar with wasn't a bit nerve racking, but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for her and we are both willing to make the move, no matter how difficult it may be. Really just hoping to get some insight on what to expect.
Any job offers to look for? Certain areas to look for apartment or relatively cheap housing? Any do's and don'ts?
Any insight or info on what to look out for and any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
All the best from Texas and see y'all soon!
