Yeah rt 20 is tough. I commuted from Maynard to Watertown via 117/20 for years, but if you go at the right time it’s fine.
The towns you named though generally are not considered metro west…hell even Weston doesn’t make the cut by the states definition (looks like it stops at Wayland). I think all those fall into suburban Boston.

Hm really I didn’t know that I figured because it wasn’t part of Boston and west of Boston that was metro west. I am going to need to look up what constitutes metro west now.
