His performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape is one of the best ever, and he was heart wrenchingly good in Basketball Diaries. I haven't seen any of his never films but the ones he did when he was young were exceptional.

Basketball Diaries, Gilbert Grape and This Boy's Life are top 5 of his best performances along Wolf of Wall Street and Django. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has the same mind set that Leo's earlier career, he went to depths he just doesn't do anymore since post Titanic. I love to see him work with a young director and not all the established name ones and just do something that surprise you.
