Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom (French: Astérix et Obélix: l'Empire du Milieu) is a 2023 French live action adventure family comedy film directed by Guillaume Canet, who also stars as Asterix. It is the fifth installment in the Asterix film series. Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom.

Like people talk about this movie like in the new entey in the MCU but it has a 4.7 on IMDb

I disagree on the fact it's "that bad". It's not a great movie, nor a good movie, but it's an average movie. For me, it's better than the last two Asterix live action movies. Not too difficult you would say as there were really bad.

Most gags are meh. Some are extremely cringe bordering being racists. And some made me chuckle. Lots of guest stars, most being unknown outside of France or even to a lot of French people.

Guillaume Canet (Asterix) and Gilles Lellouche (Obelix) are friends in real life and you do see it which is nice as Asterix & Obelix will always be associated together. However, they are not the most logical choice for either Asterix or Obelix.

I would say it's a "you can see it" movie if you are an Asterix fan and it will work with kids. Still better to be French to understand parts of it.

Haven't seen that one, but the only live action Asterix that was actually good, was the Cleopatra one (Although they never should've replaced Gottfried John), so I wouldn't be too surprised.

The score kinda looks like it was review bombed by French people for some reason though. I personally really enjoyed it, and Polish dubbing surely helped to make the jokes funnier.

Well many people say that it's bad anyway. But the thing is that people talk about this. I visited one of the nearest movie theaters amd it was plastered with posters of this movie. I also sat down to enjoy a drink outside and some dudes started talkimg about this movie like it can cure ligma or some crap

Having read the comics and tried watching these i feel the charm doesn't really translate into the films well. (i haven't watched this one but i have seen others in the series).

They tried to appeal to adult audiences by making it live action but it's also trying to be cartoony like what is that. They either should've made it animated or just make it a little bit more serious
