I thought it was an absolute blast. I hope it does well so a sequel happens. It felt very much like the first small adventure of a larger campaign.

The biggest complaint I have, is similar to Kick-Ass, they put way too many good scenes into the trailer.

Honestly best fun in the theater I've had all year (sneak showing earlier today).

My only complaint was that the trailer ruined a few gags (but there were plenty more) and that there was zero Led Zeppelin.

Fantastic cameos as well. The movie has heart.

I saw it back in October at a test screening and been trying to hold back my excitement for months now. Every movie I saw since October was never as fun as D&D, maybe Avatar 2 was the exception, but still. Nothing has been as fun of a movie in theaters since then. It was just great to have a fun, lighthearted movie at the time (around halloween if I recall) with jokes and a fun story. Going in blind helped a LOT. I'd say most of the movie is the same, it was unfinished in the VFX department mostly. Lots of temp cgi and storyboard scenes. Stuff with the bird creature was mostly storyboards at times. The dragon was mostly done because I think that must have taken the most time to do. Little things here and there like smoke effects weren't done but most of the actual film story and editing were done I'd say. It was a complete edit of the film

We all thought we were going to see Shazam 2 and BOY am I glad it wasn't that film lol

My wife and I went to the sneak preview this afternoon and really enjoyed it. Lots of fun gags, creative creature designs, and well-done action sequences. My only complaint is that it felt too long, but it deserves to be a hit and I would happily see another installment. I think it'll have good WOM among families.

Weird question but are there any parts that are not in English? I'm in mexico and usually if theres a foreign language part the subtitles are still in spanish so i dont always get what theyre saying.

I had a good time with it too! It felt nice to see a 2 hour action adventure movie where you didn't need to see a bunch of movies before it or be aware of any lore. Just a fun romp. Definitely a movie I'd throw up on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I hate what they did to D&D movies. How they are kind of like a comedy.

It is like it is the only way to make it appeal to a wider audience. I wish they were serious like the D&D books I used to read

Hollywood always has to mess with things (change it).

I even liked those straight to dvd DnD movies from the early 2000's, the nerd in me will always be apologetic to any attempt of a DnD flick even if it's suck. So, good to know.

Saw it today too. It was OK. Needed to cut about 30 mins out of it. No business being 2 hrs, 14 mins. Also, most of the jokes fell very flat.

At about the 30 min mark, I decided I didn't like the movie. But the rest of the movie grew on me. That first 30 mins should have been cut down to 5-10. It takes a LONG time to get the whole gang together.

And minus points for Regé-Jean Page barely being in the movie.

The first 30 could definitely use some editing. I dig what they were trying to do, because it happens in every D&D campaign; backstories are told, the party is brought together, etc. I definitely think it could have been edited down a bit, a minute here, 30 seconds there, and it would have been a much tighter intro.

Umm.. not really. Definitely not a slapstick comedy. Lots of lighthearted banter and some outright funny moments, but not Monty Python.
There were even a few actual heartfelt scenes, relationship between father and daughter, forbidden romance and the consequences of racism, love and loss.
It's an action flick with some comedic and dramatic moments.

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised. The first 30 mins 'getting the party together' and backstories could use some snugging up, but as soon as things get rolling, it's darned good. Wait until the Red Wizards come into their own. There are actually a few scenes that are sufficiently intense that you'll jump. My wife actually screamed out loud once. LOL.
