For reference, I have never actually seen “The Muppet Christmas Carol” movie! I was browsing the r/books sub and saw a few posts regarding ACC from Charles Dickens, among his other works.
So it got me interested in reading the original story, which I promptly downloaded on my kindle. But it kind of clicked in my brain that I can’t remember actually watching any adaptation of ACC other than the 2009 Disney one in theaters with my uncle, but it never really stuck out as something I remembered all the details to. I just went back and rewatched the trailer and dear god I do not remember the CG being that bad/weird. Anyway, i did a little googling and I can’t believe so many people are saying The Muppet version is the best! I never really cared for The Muppets, and while I had heard of this movie, it wasn’t on my radar and I just thought it was a silly little movie with no substance. Boy, I guess I’m wrong lol.
And it also hit me that even though I believe I’ve only seen the one adaptation in theaters 13 years ago, I have always known the elements and basic gist of the story. I’d say it’s the most widely known Christmas story ever. What’s not to love about the ghosts of Christmas past, present, & future?! I’m ashamed to admit I watched the comedy with Matthew McConaughey a few years back about ghosts of girlfriends past & had a decent laugh.
I really couldn’t believe there are so many different versions of this story adapted to the screen, and in terms of a “real” one, like, not featuring Muppets lol, there’s no definitive answer on which is the best/most faithful adaptation. The answer is resoundingly, The Muppets. Lmfao.
I’m 27 and I’m very seriously considering renting The Muppet version now. Is The Muppet version your favorite? And if so why should I watch it at my geriatric age? Am I being a Scrooge? If not, what other versions do y’all like/recommend?

Edit 3: I’M WATCHING THE MUPPET VERSION RN AND OMG. It’s wonderful. I love The Muppets as characters, Gonzo & Rizzo are hilarious, the sets are beautiful, lighting is amazing and somewhat spooky, and I can’t sing enough praises for Michael Caine’s performance. Scrooge just met the ghost of Marley & Marley and I can tell this is going to be a favorite of mine for all Christmases to come.
