What i was thinking was a movie that, at its very core, is designed to tell the story from a soldiers perspective, but not your typical Hollywood war hero. Just and ordinary soldier experiencing the horrors of war first hand, sitting in a foxhole with his comrades as an enemy assault comes, shrapnel from the artillery bombardment flying overhead as an enemy tank approaches. A movie that makes it abundantly clear that your only choices are keeping your head down or dying. Something that makes war so gritty, so ugly, and so brutal, that noone could finish watching the movie thinking about who was right or wrong, wether the war was justified, etc. because the movie doesn't bother with such questions, as its only goal is to make us understand that noone wants to experience in real life what the main character experienced in the movie.
