Do you think Heath Ledger would still have won the Oscar for The Dark Knight if he hadn't died?

My husband and I re-watched The Dark Knight recently. I don't think too many people would argue that Heath Ledger gave a brilliant performance as the Joker, but do you think he was deserving of the Oscar he received posthumously? Or do you think he received it more-so because he died? Why do you think so? I'm curious to know what people think.
