Damn and shit. Sounds like it wasn't malicious harm or intential death. They were drugged up and dude died. Panic set it. Self-preservation instincts. By not entirely with it folks. Mastermind of this operation seems a little cold and calculated but something needed to be done, I suppose. Calling 911 should've been the move.

Horrible situation. They certainly shouldn't be commended. And they certainly shouldnt get off. They should've been able to call 911 without worrying about what happens next, besides whether or not the guy stayed dead, imo

Detail I was unaware of. Looking at these folks, forgive me, I don't doubt time and circumstance is relative. I would put forth it isn't heartless. Clueless, numb, scared, etc. I doubt they were careless or unconcerned. I bet self concern was one of the selfish ideas worried about.

Inaction isn't carelessness for addicts. They've overwhelmed by minutiae, often. This was immediate need to ignore. This couldn't be ignored. It's fucked up.

This was someone 'close' to them. They're fucked up on drugs. Barely living themselves. A dead body isn't ignored because they enjoy it or don't care. You might forget or disregard takeout in the fridge for an extra day because you're not hungry or busy. For them, this was likely similar. Drugs are bad

Really, unfortunately, common in cases like this as well. There's tons of stories where someone dies, in any way you can think of, and the people around them just keep going on whatever bender they're in the middle of for days.
