I apologize if this is a dumb question but I have never been to New Hampshire and am just looking for some advice. A friend and I were planning to do a hike in the white mountains to see some foliage and to just enjoy the outdoors but unfortunately she sprained her foot and is unable to do much physical activity.

Is there any great towns/pretty areas to visit instead around the area this time of year that would be worth taking a weekend trip up to?

Thank you!

Just drive the kancamagus! The lookouts offer stunning views without having to walk at all. Start in Lincoln and drive over to North Conway. Both towns have plenty to do and see. Also Franconia notch is beautiful to drive through, up to sugar hill. Sugar hill has more beautiful, car accessible views. The basin is a great easy walk through the woods to see waterfalls, she can probably manage it with a sprain.

I 2nd this, you can do the drive and never have to leave the car for the views. You can also drive up cathedral ledge in north conway (would require walking a 100ft or so) or take the cog (doesnt run all the way to the top at this point) Just a note though all white mountain leaves have completely fallen at this point however this has the advantage of avoiding the swarms of people looking at leaves.

Sure - there’s Bartlett, North Conway, Gorham, Jackson, Littleton, etc. Each place has their own nice amenities, and there are a number of B&B’s or AirBNB or VRBO to choose from.

The North Conway scenic railroad is a good trip, they have a couple different trips to choose from. It's a nice relaxing ride and you get a lot of the history in the area too

Foliage is well gone.

We're in stick season now.

Lunch and a few beers at Moat Mountain Brewery and smokehouse is pretty non-strenuous.

North Conway & the Kanc.

North Conway's nice and scenic, lots of shops and restaurants and more life to it than Littleton. Littleton's nice, but more like something you can knock out in an afternoon, and it's less central to stuff.

The big appeal with the Kanc is it has a lot of scenic spots right off the road, or a very short walk from it.
