How does New Hampshire, gun-friendly state, manage to rank low in deadly shootings?

If anyone goes onto the site of the Gabby Giffords organization, a gun control advocacy group, they catalog state gun control laws with an A-F rating system. New Hampshire gets an F rating in gun laws, but also ranks in the lowest 20% of states for gun deaths per 100k people. Despite near identical gun laws, states in Northern New England defy the causal relationship between open gun laws and shootings that seem to plague other gun-friendly states in the South and Midwest. Why is this?
