Hi All, I'm just wondering if anyone has found a particularly good spot to go tree searching in the WMNF with a holiday tree permit. I know there are a lot of trees, but my friend and I are participating for the first time. Any recommendations, I would love to hear them.

I don't have any specific spots to tell you. But, in general, you could check out recently logged areas. Because (unlike parts of the forest w/ tall trees) the small trees have more of a chance. You will also see this effect in or around marshy areas. The reason is that trees generally don't grow very tall before they fall over. So therefore there are more small trees.
