Garbage along interstate …

Anyone notice the large amount of garbage on the sides of 287 lately? I can’t speak for the other highways but 287 is really bad! (Morris & Somerset areas I notice the most.) Is it because it’s winter and trash pickup doesn’t normally happen because of snow? Hope it will be remedied when they start to mow… because it’s starting to look like a third world country in some spots. Some of the ramp areas have actual piles of garbage! So sad! And is there anything we can do!? Doesn’t help our already fragile reputation…

I'll blame the wind. I was driving the other day watching a cleanup dude try to throw stuff into his truck and the wind just ripping it out of his hands. I tell my kids that some litter is just bad people, but some other litter is just stuff the wind took, and it gets stuck in a windstop somewhere.

I blame lazy rude people throwing their trash out their car. It will get better in the spring. This is the dirtiest time of year.

Spotted a decent amount of trash on 287 between exit 9 and the split off for 78 but I will say during weekdays I’ve noticed several times a truck pulled in the grass with workers picking up said trash

It’s quite bad on 287 north and south in mahwah where they let the truckers pull over on the shoulder by ramapo college. It’s like they dump whatever they don’t want in their truck there. Yesterday I saw like 6 pallets haphazardly leaning against the guardrail. Cmon NJ! Clean it up!!

The area around I-280 and I-80 in Parsippany is especially bad. I had a plastic bag blow under my car in this area and it got wedged in my rear axle all the way home. The off ramps are especially bad. Exit 8 off I-280 is like driving through a landfill.
