It's a type of "nose in the air" exclusionism.

Where a lot of immigrants who worked hard, did the paperwork, waited the 7 to 10 years, and gained meaningful employment in the states feel they are being lumped in with people running from poverty and violence in a refugee like condition.

They don't want to acknowledge that they were never seen as equals by a lot of hard conservatives. They truly believe they're accepted by the GOP for who they are, not their money.
