It is only slightly cheaper, but only if you are traveling alone. Transit takes much longer, for most NJ residents is very inconvenient, it could easily get far more expensive if they have to drive to public transit location and pay for parking on Jersey side as well. Public transit often runs with delays and problems, especially if they are running on holiday schedule.

This has not been my experience at all but maybe thats just where I live in central jersey on the northeast corridor. Nj transit is a godsend for how much cheaper, easier, faster, and more efficient it is. Also having a car in nyc is an awful idea and I love being able to go wherever I want without needing to find and pay for expensive parking. Even if I cant just get dropped off on the nj side its still way easier and cheaper to park on the nj side. Avoid bring a car to manhattan at all costs lmao

Traffic patterns are bit different now and there is whole lot more bicycles and electric scooters on the road so watch out when you make turns and change lanes. Also, not they have speed cameras that run 24/7 so try not to drive over 29mph while in Manhattan in order to avoid $50 ticket in the mail.
