it always amazes me just how much we've replaced our railway system with highways. imagine if you could take a train/trolly to the shore from middletown instead of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic.

Imagine all the political wheels we would have to grease to get a multi town rail from Middletown station thru Sandy hook.

And all the families we’d displace doing it.

But something alongside 36 which is filled with mostly derelict businesses and only a short walk from hazlet station (via airport plaza) could work ?

iirc there’s a rail trail going from Atlantic highlands through keansburg that I think connects up with the NJT line.. would kinda suck to put a track right next to it though. But still
