How does anyone in general but specifically a New Yorker get to this point from a sequence of events perspective? I can't imagine he knew too many Albanian people.

Not for nothing, but The North Bronx/Southern Westchester has like the largest Albanian diaspora in the US…in all likelihood he is Albanian.
